You Go Girl for God, Part 8

Chapter Two (cont)

Am I saying we have to be perfect people? Until we get to the other side of always putting God first, we are not going to see human perfection, but we can be working to perfect our spirit in God, and He will reward. On the other side of every act of obedience, there is a reward. That’s in this lifetime as well as that which is to come. You should be encouraged. Stir yourself up. I’m going to give a little example of asking the Father for a word of knowledge.

The same day I got the Cinderella Story, while I was driving to Springfield, MO., I said, “You know Papa, it’s been a while since I’ve heard you just drop something in my hearing, and I want that stirred some more.” I was running my own restaurant at the time and was very busy with that, but we need to keep first things first, amen? So, I said, “Please, speak to me.” I was on my way to the doors of the Battlefield Mall, a shopping center, and as I’m passing through the doors, I heard the Lord say, “Mureta Dodds, Cox Hospital.” Well, that was one of our main hospitals in town, and I was just thinking to myself, “oh, Mureta needs prayer.” Well, I didn’t know anyone by that name, but I knew my Father’s voice, so I started praying in the Spirit and said, “do I need to go to the hospital, Father?” as I was walking in the mall. He said, “No, just call the hospital.” I said, “Ok.” So, I’m following step by step instructions. He wants to speak to you. He wants you to obey what He says because on the other side of that, there’s another reward. Do you know what that is for me? It’s another assignment. I wasn’t asking for silver or gold, but I got some of that too. I was praying to hear His voice for somebody else.

I called Cox Hospital, “Hi, this is Kitty, and I’m a chaplain. I would like to speak to Mureta Dodds. Just as bold as if I was the President of the United States. They said, “Hold please.” So, ok, I’m just praying in the Spirit and about a minute goes by, I don’t know what I’m doing next, but I’m being obedient. A gentleman gets on the phone and says, “This is ER, can I help you?” I said, “Yes, I need to speak to Mureta Dodds.” He said, “Hold please.” I thought, Oh My Gosh, as I’m praying in the Spirit, there is a Mureta Dodds! Be obedient even though you don’t know where you’re going, but you be obedient, please! We don’t want people to die in their sin being lost without Christ. So, the guy comes back on the phone and says, “Ma’am, I’m sorry, but Mureta Dodds was unregistered at noon and left the hospital around 12:30; she went home. So, from the time that I started praying,

God was intervening and that little lady went home. I don’t know where she lives or who she is, but I obeyed God. You can’t just make up a Mureta Dodds, hello!

Please be obedient, be inspired, be stirred up, take courage to ask Him for a word of knowledge. Can I ask for a word of knowledge? Well, yes, you can because He is no respecter of persons, but He does respect faith. Without faith, it’s impossible to please Him. What’s impossible? Everything. Absolutely everything is impossible without faith. “God plus nothing equals everything,” says Patricia King.

Practice makes perfect. You can practice the presence of God by getting quiet. You can practice praying, and you can practice worship. You can practice the gifts, yes, you are allowed to practice. He is not going to smack you if you get it wrong. One day, Russ and I were sitting on an airplane, and I wanted to practice the word of knowledge, so I heard the name Ray and something about her husband, and as introductions were made, I told her we were in the ministry and were traveling to a meeting. I said, “Would you mind, could I just practice a word of knowledge?” She said, “You go right ahead.” I said, “Is your husband’s name Ray?” She said, giggling, “No, his name, and you would never guess it, is Kay.” I said, “Close enough, I’m going to keep practicing.”

I just laughed with God, because you are allowed to practice the presence of God and the word of knowledge, word of wisdom, prophetic utterance, yes. Practice until you get it right. Bless God; we are getting it right a lot more often now. My husband is one of the most accurate prophets I have ever heard. We get responses back from all around the world, like, “prophet Russ, when you prophesied to me three years ago that my house was going to sell, it sold the next day for $450,000.” Those kinds of reports just keep on coming because Russ is faithful. Also, he’s been preaching since he was a little boy. Practice makes perfect.

When I moved from California to Missouri in 1986, God gave me a restaurant with my name already on it. The restaurant was called Miss Kitty’s. It was for sale, and He told me to buy it. So, I bought it two days later. I got to preach, teach, and prophesy for 8 years, 4 months, 7 days, and 23 minutes. It was powerful because He taught me how to hear His voice and go about doing what He said. The first time was like, “Oh, ok.” I didn’t know I was prophetic. I hadn’t had a lot of training in the prophetic. As a little girl, I would hear God say something, and then I would do it. There it was, happening in front of me just like He said. God had Russ practicing too when he was little. God would say, “walk outside, your mom will be in the driveway in 15 seconds, count.” As a little 7-year old, he would count to 15, and his mom would pull up in the driveway. Practice makes perfect, Amen.
