Roll Over on Your Back and Let the River of God Take You

Did you know the River of God originates in you? Max and David Sapp wrote a song about the River of God that was recorded by the Gaither Band. The lyrics speak eloquently to the flow of God’s Spirit on the inside of you:

There is a river, that flows from deep within
There is a fountain, that frees the soul from sin
Come to these waters; there is a vast supply
There is a river, that never shall run dry.

David was one of the first writers in the Bible to speak of the River of God:

Psalms 65:9 Thou visitest the earth and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water:

Just roll over on your back in the River of God and let the current take you to the center of His goodness. In Psalm 46:4, David declares, “there is a river the streams whereof make glad the people of God…” Are you ready for a float trip down the river of God? Out of 61 verses in the Bible about rivers, 23 refer to the River of Life or the River of God. Where do we find this river? Is it in central Iraq or underwater in the Gulf of Aqaba? Thank God Jesus gives us the exact GPS coordinates of His river of refreshing:

[Jhn 7:38 KJV] 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Where is the River of God? It’s in you. Nothing outward can stem it; no enemy can dam up its flow in your life. Let the river flow. Let the river of God break out of all its banks in your life and refresh every aspect of your need. The river in the garden in Genesis speaks to us of the River of God on the inside of us, and if you look closely you will see that it divides into four tributaries that speak of the characteristics of how God’s river blesses your life:

[Gen 2:10 KJV] 10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

Those four tributaries and their names have meaning for us;

Pison (increase)
Havilah (where there is gold [prosperity])
Gihon (bursting forth [breakthrough])
Hiddekel (rapid, God does a quick work)

You have increase in you. The prosperity of God is flowing on the inside of you. Your breakthrough is a massive current in you flowing out to bring triumph in your situation. The haste of God is a streaming flow in you, bringing God’s promise quickly to pass in your life.

Don’t swim against the current. Don’t give in to fear. Let your faith keep you afloat and moving you quickly into the best that God has for you today!
