Introduction
Precisely the Prophetic is the narrative of two lives adrift in an unprecedented level of favor and divine outcomes. Kitty and I met one another later in life while working together on a kingdom assignment that would serve to bring our ministries together in 2007 and ultimately marriage and the launching of Father’s Heart Ministry in 2010. During those years we were lifted from homelessness and poverty to the leadership of a ministry with a worldwide reach touching the lives of over 10 million through our online channels including the FHM website, www.fathersheartministry.net. In short, in just twelve years, we have brought the gospel in demonstration and power to multitudes of people in the US and around the world.
How did all this happen? Not by human origination. We were working in the IT sector (Russ) and the hospitality industry (Kitty) when God reached into our lives and spring boarded us into our highest heart’s desire and greatest dream fulfilled.
In the beginning, Father’s Heart Ministry was just an outlet for our hunger to share the gospel while we continued in the work-a-day world. Then one day, a lady in Australia sent in an e-mail. She appreciated what she had read online and wanted to know how to send us a donation. A donation? That was a new thought for us. I built websites for a living for over 20 years, therefore such things were not new to me, but we just hadn’t thought of making a donation link available. The next day, just for this little lady “down under” we put a link up so she could donate. To our surprise, support started flowing in. Next, we put a link for visitors to subscribe to the FHM e-mail list. Within a very short time, there were so many subscribers we had to find a different technology to handle this new-found fruitfulness. Then the calls came for us to travel to the far-flung nations of the world to share the message of the Father’s Heart. What was that message? That love never fails to produce something. It never fails to produce more love. This message emphasis resonated with the people, and the response that came back to us was utterly unanticipated. We weren’t groping or flailing about, desperate for some ministry opportunity. We were inundated with invitations and requests. Suddenly our everyday life was filled with calls for us to go out to preach, teach, and prophesy.
Before we did any ministry assignments overseas, the Father interrupted our plans with a mandate for the nation. We were driving back to our home in Republic, Missouri, from a vacation time visiting Royal Gorge in Colorado. Kitty loves what she calls “windshield time” and had done most of the driving that day. As we left the eastern face of the Rockies behind, the featureless Kansas prairie stretched out before us for what seemed like endless hours. Kitty became sleepy, so I took the wheel so she could rest. After not quite an hour, she stirred, and I had something on my mind to share with her.
“SOOO,” I began, “I want to tell you something I heard the Father say while you were sleeping.”
Kitty nodded to indicate she was listening, and I continued to communicate to her that the Father had informed me that we were going to go to 12 major cities across the nation in the next year and the year after that we would go to 12 countries around the world. What about our home and our things? Were we to turn our business over to others while we fulfilled this assignment? Were we to put our possessions in storage or to hire someone to housesit for us while we dove into this new assignment? While we certainly knew God was speaking, these other answers weren’t so clear.
Kitty contemplated all these things, and we discussed perhaps finding a storage place for our furniture and just giving up our rented home during this season of travel. We had the same things most Americans have – a couch, dining room set, living room set, etc. – and as Kitty turned this over in her mind, the Father interrupted her:
“Kitty, what do you do with a couch?”
She answered, “well, Lord, you sit on it.”
The Father replied, “Is that what you want to do? You must want to sit?”
It was then that we decided to give away all we owned down to the last fork and knife. We only kept our clothes and a few essentials that were packed in the car for life on the road. What would we do for money? Well, we did have some money left over from the sale of a second car, and I thought the amount would be enough to get down the road for at least three weeks. Then the Father interrupted again.
“I want you to take the money from the sale of that vehicle and lay it at your mentor’s feet (Prophet Walter Waller).”
What a challenge. We would be going out with just enough money to sustain us for maybe a week or more. We were a little thoughtful (concerned) about that, and God must have laughed because He knew the end from the beginning. This was not to be an odyssey of deprivation. What we thought would be 12 cities over the course of an entire year on the road non-stop, turned out to be 66 meetings in as many cities. During this year that we dubbed the “Jericho drive,” we turned down 120 invitations while we traveled coast to coast four times in 12 months. There was no groundwork. We didn’t scrounge around to find a friendly church where we could hold a meeting on our way to the next town.
We trusted God, and God came through. As we preached and prophesied our way coast to coast, ministries were launched. Churches started. The word of the Lord changed lives as we met in homes, in small groups, hotel venues with very little preplanning and yes an occasional church. People began calling us “Mama Kitty and Papa Russ.” The Father’s Heart was manifesting as we advocated for the prophetic and prophesied and preached to several thousand over that year and in the years that followed that number grew from 1000s and then 10’s of 1000s and later on multiplied millions as God showed up in a demonstration of power and miracles and glory. During that time, we formed relationships and connections with people all over the US that have endured for years. (More on the Jericho Drive in a later chapter).
