Emotional and Mental Well Being from a Kingdom Perspective. Inner transformation is not initiated through outward process but inward transformation and connecting to who Jesus is (Christ in You) and who He died to be on the inside of you. Go behind the veil of shallow reasoning and experience the depths of who God is in you through this powerful and insightful teaching. Fostering Emotional Well Being from a Kingdom Perspective:
The apostle Paul prayed a very comprehensive prayer that speaks to God’s will regarding our emotional well being:
[1Th 5:23 KJV] 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
There are three aspects of your make-up which are:
Spirit, Soul, and Body
When we accept Jesus into our heart God lives in our spirit (Col. 1:27; Rev. 3:20). In the Old Testament the Spirit of God dwelled in a chamber called the Holy of Holies (Ex. 25:22), which like our own human spirit is the third and inmost chamber where He lives (Eph. 3:17). So we can make the correlation thus:
Spirit Holy of Holies Ark of the Covenant Eph. 3:17
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soul Inner Court Lampstand, (Mind); Luke 11:34 Shewbread (Emotions) Psa. 127:2 Altar (Will) Matt. 6:10; Matt. 26:42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Body Outer Court Brazen Altar; Mirror Basin; Rom. 12:1
When these aspects of our make up are in parity or balance inside of us we have peace of mind and tranquility of spirit.
[2Pe 1:2 KJV] 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
When this original order is disturbed then we are in turmoil. (2 Thess. 2:4; Mark 13:14)
[Isa 57:20 KJV] 20 But the wicked [are] like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
Now 1 Thess. 5:23 says that God’s purpose is to SANCTIFY YOU WHOLLY. What does this mean? The word sanctify means to SEPARATE FROM and DRAW UNTO. So this is speaking of connection and relationship. Our relationships are based upon nurturing our own sense of well being. This is called SELF REFERRAL. God wants us to anchor our SELF REFERRAL in His opinion of us, love for us and plan for us and not in any other unreliable resource. In another place Paul put it this way:
[Col 3:2-3 KJV] 2 Set your affection {emotional focus} on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Another passage of scripture puts it this way:
[1Co 1:30 KJV] 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
In other words we get our sense of self-referral not from our outward environment or the opinion of others, or our possessions or achievements but from who God has made Jesus to be TO us and IN us and therein we find value, and security and our own sense of self-worth.
