Beyond the Noise: Tuning Into the Timeless Mind of God

Have you ever noticed how much of our lives are spent in constant dialogue? The problem with this for you as a believer is this – God speaks in the silence between your own thoughts. If you never get quiet you will be stymied in your desire to hear God’s voice and respond to His leadings. We scroll through the internet, jump into debates, and tirelessly argue over concepts of what is right, what is wrong, or what God is. We look around at the world’s problems—sickness, conflict, fear—and we naturally try to fix them right where they are. We try to solve problems on the level of the problem.

But what if the human mind wasn’t actually designed to endlessly spin its wheels in worry? What if it is meant to be a sponge, a tool of silent awareness meant to absorb the invisible nature of true life?

The Illusion of Time and Invention

When you look at reality from a higher perspective, time begins to blur. There is an old mystical understanding that time is essentially a fiction—that the divine is entirely timeless. In a truly timeless state, the linear concepts of birth, growing up, and dying begin to dissolve into a singular, eternal “Now.”

Think about the sheer number of things humanity has invented out of fear of going without:

  • We invented complex systems to preserve our bodies.

  • We invented labels to fragment ourselves (black, white, right, wrong).

  • We created timelines to measure our lack.

But in our truest nature, we are self-contained. The ancient wisdom reminds us that “man shall not live by bread alone.” We carry the water, the bread, and the ultimate truth inside of us. When we realize that the only real power is the power of love and grace, we regain our original dominion. We stop relying on outward inventions and start relying on inner presence.

Hearing vs. Listening

There is a profound difference between hearing and listening.

Right now, you can probably hear a dozen background noises—traffic, a humming refrigerator, a distant conversation. Hearing is passive; it picks up all the scattered noise of the world.

Listening, however, requires a choice. When you truly listen, you select one specific voice, and all the other noises fade into nothingness. You focus your attention completely.

“The kingdom of God is not in words, thoughts, or endless Bible studies. It is found when the mind is brought to a point of absolute silence.”

In a world full of spiritual philosophies and religious dialogue, it is easy to get trapped in intellectual debates. But truth isn’t found in a commentary or an internet argument. True faith comes from a quiet, attentive heart that stops talking back and simply listens to the quiet voice within.

The Real Battle of Armageddon

People love to look at ancient apocalyptic texts like the Book of Revelation and imagine a physical war fought with weapons in a distant desert. But the mystics have always known a deeper truth: the real Battle of Armageddon is fought between the ears.

It is the conflict between the carnal, reasoning mind—which is full of anxieties, phobias, and a belief that you are separate from perfection—and the spiritual consciousness that knows you are already whole.

The things that don’t bring you peace? That is the true “antichrist”—the fears, the limitations, and the human inventions that tell you you aren’t enough. The voice of truth, however, always leads you beside still waters.

Step Into the Silence

How do we access this superabundance of life?

  1. Be Still: Drop the arguments and the need to prove a point. You don’t need to throw your pearls before swine or argue with strangers who just want to debate.

  2. Practice Contemplation: The Latin root of contemplation (contemplari) means to join the temple. It is the act of joining your individual awareness back to the infinite whole.

  3. Recognize Who You are in Christ: Regardless of your current feelings or circumstances, your true spiritual identity is blameless, holy, and completely secure.

When you learn the art of the hearing heart, you stop trying to fix the world by human muscle or manipulation. You step into a place of total assurance and quietness where nothing can defile you. In that silence, the noise of the world falls away, and you finally begin to live.
