You are Coming Through the Fire

You are Coming Through the Fire

You may be in a fiery trial, but you are coming out as fine gold. In Zech. 13:9, God promises that He will bring His remnant through the midst of their fiery trials and that they will come out on the other side refined as silver is refined. As long as we are on this side of fallen creation, there will be challenges. There will be things you will face that threaten your peace and require great patience to get through. That is why the Father gave us His word. Not only to sustain us in the situation but to deliver us according to His promise.

Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

God’s word certifies to us what God will do and who He will be to us in the midst of every assault of hell against us. There is a teaching in theology about God’s sovereignty that, in essence, states that regardless of what God’s word says – God will (allegedly) violate His word for His own capricious reasons. If that were true, then the believer could never truly put their faith in God for deliverance. Thankfully when God answers your prayer He doesn’t check with the theologians of this world to see what His options are. Take note of what the verse above promises us:

1. God will bring you through the fire. What is the fiery trial? It is that unendurable situation that you are going through at any given time.

2. God will refine you like silver. Silver is a precious metal. You are precious to God. He will never discard you or disregard you in His kingdom. In the heart of God, no one is disposable, and everybody counts.

3. He will hear you and respond. When you call upon His name, He never turns a deaf ear. When God hears your cry, He doesn’t look down at your suffering and think, “that’s good for them, I will leave them there a little while longer…” No, the verse says when you cry out to Him that He looks down and says “those are My people…” What is the implication? He will act in your defense.

4. You will say, “The Lord is my God.” What does this mean? It is a boast in the Lord in expectation of answered prayer.

What are you going through today? Take heart. Be encouraged! You are coming out on the other side, intact, and on target for the plan of God for your life!
