The Seed Will Be Prosperous

In Zech. 8:12 the prophet is speaking over the remnant of God with a powerful declaration of blessing:

Zechariah 8:12 For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

Many times when we read verses like this certain teachers will say “that’s not for us, that’s for the Old Testament saint – God wants His people to serve Him in lowliness and poverty.” Well, let’s examine that premise. The verse says that the “seed” will be prosperous. Who or what is the seed that is referenced here? In Galatians chapter three the apostle Paul has much to say about this topic:

[Gal 3:16 KJV] 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

We see here that the seed is a person and His name is Jesus. Jesus is the seed. Not only that but Paul goes on to declare that as a born again believer you are also the seed:

[Gal 3:29 KJV] 29 And if ye [be] Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Jesus is the Seed of God and in Christ, we are also Abraham’s seed and according to our verse, the SEED SHALL BE PROSPEROUS. Now if Jesus appeared to you in the night standing over your bed to declare this – would you believe it? Certainly, you would. Do you understand that this declaration in Zech. 8:12 is JUST AS POWERFUL? You are God’s seed and God’s declaration over you as certain as “let there be light” is that you SHALL BE prosperous, and give fruit and give increase and POSSESS all these things!

Be encouraged today. God is in you working to do His will and His will and declaration over you is that you are prosperous! Who’s with me?
