Hello, this is Russ Walden with Father’s Heart Ministry, and this is the Daily Intercessor’s Update for July 22, 2026. Today I’m led for our prayers to focus on headlines around the world relating to persecution of Christians. On average, 300 Christians are martyred around the world every month, over 200 churches are burned, and over 700 reports of violence. The great A.B. Simpson understood the power of prayer on the mission field when he famously said: “Prayer moves the mission.” Let’s pray over the mission field today.
Our first prayer focus centers on reports from watchdog groups that global Christian persecution has reached historic highs in 2026, with 388 million believers living under severe violence and state-sanctioned abuse, particularly spotlighting hostile regimes in Nigeria, Nicaragua, India, and Syria.
For our prayer, we petition for an impenetrable shield of angelic protection around the 388 million believers facing targeted violence worldwide, asking the Lord to grant supernatural boldness to those living under hostile regimes and to expose every corrupt dictator and extremist network working to silence the Church.
For our warfare declaration, we stand in Kingdom authority to bind the global spirits of antichrist oppression, martyrdom, and religious tyranny, decreeing that every demonic structure seeking to wipe out the body of Christ is broken and that the Church will triumph and expand right out of the fire.
Second, in a bold legislative stand for religious liberty, the United States House of Representatives passed a voice vote to freeze all foreign aid to Nigeria until its government takes concrete steps to protect vulnerable Christian populations, directly confronting a crisis where Nigeria accounts for roughly 70 percent of global faith-related deaths.
For our prayer, we ask for divine wisdom and courage to saturate our national lawmakers as they use America’s influence to defend the innocent, praying that this aid freeze forces total accountability upon Nigerian officials and brings immediate physical relief to terrorized villages.
For our warfare declaration, we break the spirit of globalist apathy, government complicity, and murderous hatred operating in West Africa, commanding the financial and political cover protecting corrupt leaders to be dismantled in Jesus’ name.
Third, radical extremist groups including Boko Haram and ISWAP continue to unleash terror across Sub-Saharan Africa, escalating targeted kidnappings of faith leaders and their families—including the recent abduction of a pastor’s wife and three children in Nigeria—while local authorities leave entire villages exposed.
For our prayer, we cry out for immediate divine rescue and supernatural safe release for every abducted pastor, leader, and family member held in captivity, asking the Lord to send confusion into the camps of the terrorists and supernaturally shield fragile rural communities.
For our warfare declaration, we take authority over the spirits of jihadist terror, abduction, and lawless destruction, binding Boko Haram, ISWAP, and radical militia networks, decreeing that their schemes will fail and that their captives will be delivered.
Fourth, state-sanctioned crackdowns against the church are escalating sharply, as India enforces severe anti-conversion laws across 13 states to fuel militant nationalist attacks, while the regime in Nicaragua continues detaining, exiling, or disappearing hundreds of clergy members to destroy religious expression.
For our prayer, we pray for unshakeable spiritual strength over the underground church networks in India and Nicaragua, petitioning that every weaponized anti-conversion law and authoritarian decree backfires against the regimes enforcing them.
For our warfare declaration, we bind the spirits of religious nationalism, totalitarian control, and state persecution operating through these governments, decreeing that the gospel cannot be chained and that the underground church will multiply supernaturally.
Fifth, violent mob aggression and weaponized blasphemy laws continue to claim lives across South and Southeast Asia, evidenced by the brutal murder of a Christian brick-kiln worker in Pakistan over a communal water cooler, and radical mobs in Indonesia illegally shutting down active Pentecostal worship services.
For our prayer, we lift up the grieving families of those targeted by mob violence, asking the Lord to bring absolute truth and divine justice to light while supernaturally guarding gathered believers in Pakistan and Indonesia as they assemble to worship.
For our warfare declaration, we bind the spirits of mob violence, religious hatred, and blasphemy-law intimidation operating across South Asia, commanding every demonic incitement toward violence to be bound and silenced before the throne of God.
