Remember Who’s in Charge

Remember Who’s in Charge

It seems every day we see fresh disappointments on the world scene as anarchy and unrest take peace from our land. Isaiah aptly describes lost humanity as raging and impure waves of the sea:

[Isa 57:20 KJV] 20 But the wicked [are] like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

These things can be disturbing and even alarming but remember that God is in control even of the most violent and ungodly forces around us no matter what things look like. In Psalm 89, the writer glorifies God as ruling over all things that take place on the earth, including the forces of evil:

Psalms 89:9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

We ask ourselves when will things get better and when will things calm down? It’s not up to the politicians or those who lead groups like Antifa or those who claim to represent BLM. Things will come down as the verse above describes when God chooses to still them. This is the sovereignty of God that often goes unappreciated even by those who look to Jesus as their Savior.

Don’t be discouraged. As my wife Kitty often says, God can do anything He wants any time He wants, and He doesn’t have to check with anyone. The Father is not pacing before the throne wringing His hands, wondering what He will do about events in Portland or other hotspots in the country. He isn’t furrowing His brow, trying to figure out what His next move is in the upcoming election.

God isn’t worried, and He isn’t anxious, and neither should you be. That is important because the media and forces of the political machine are making every effort to instill fear into this nation and your heart. I say to you there is nothing to fear. God is still on the throne, and prayer changes things. In the Gospel of John, Jesus made the following statement:

[Jhn 14:27 KJV] 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

There’s a political program that quotes that verse every broadcast and then promptly goes on to speak out fear, alarm, and concern. Don’t give in to the narrative of the world. Have peace in yourself. Remember that the kingdom doesn’t just bring peace, it IS peace. Your peace is a person, and His name is Jesus. No matter what happens in the election or on the world scene, run into the high tower of His name, and you will be safe no matter what.
