Recovering Biblical Spirituality: Is Modern Christianity Missing the Point?

Recovering Biblical Spirituality: Is Modern Christianity Missing the Point?

(A Free book available for immediate download HERE)

We live in an age of unprecedented Christian access.

There are more sermons available online than any generation in history. More conferences. More podcasts. More livestreams. More influencers. More books. More teaching platforms. More ministry brands.

And yet for many believers, something still feels missing.

Why?

Because access to Christian content is not the same thing as experiencing biblical spirituality.

That’s the burden behind my book, Recovering Biblical Spirituality.

When Christianity Becomes Activity Without Intimacy

One of the most sobering realities of modern faith culture is that Christianity can remain highly active while becoming spiritually disconnected from the very life of Christ it claims to represent.

We can become experts at attending services while neglecting personal communion with Jesus.

We can admire gifted leaders while failing to develop spiritual maturity ourselves.

We can spend years waiting for “the next move of God” while ignoring the presence of God already available within us through Christ.

That may sound uncomfortable—but it’s a conversation the church needs to have.

Biblical spirituality was never meant to be outsourced.

Jesus did not die so believers could become permanent spectators.

He came to create disciples.

He came to awaken sons and daughters who know His voice, walk in His authority, and live out authentic Kingdom life.

The Pool of Bethesda Problem

In Recovering Biblical Spirituality, I explore the story of the man at the Pool of Bethesda.

Think about that moment.

A man sits waiting for movement in the water.

Waiting for a miracle.

Waiting for outside intervention.

Waiting for someone to help him.

Sound familiar?

That image reflects much of contemporary Christianity.

Too many believers are waiting:

  • Waiting for revival
  • Waiting for a prophetic word
  • Waiting for a famous minister
  • Waiting for the perfect church
  • Waiting for the next breakthrough conference
  • Waiting for “someday”

Meanwhile, Jesus asks the same question He asked then:

“Will you be made whole?”

That question shifts responsibility.

It calls us out of passivity.

It invites us into personal engagement with Christ.

Christianity Was Never Designed as Spectator Religion

The early church was not built around passive attendance.

Believers were participants.

Ministers equipped others—not replaced them.

Leadership empowered believers—not centralized spiritual life around personalities.

The Kingdom advanced because ordinary people understood that Christ lived in them.

That truth has not changed.

The answer to spiritual frustration is not necessarily another event, another trend, or another personality.

The answer is returning to the centrality of Jesus Himself.

A Message for This Generation

If you’ve ever felt:

  • frustrated with shallow church culture
  • weary of hype-driven spirituality
  • disappointed by celebrity Christianity
  • hungry for something more authentic
  • convinced that Jesus intended deeper transformation

Then this message is for you.

Recovering Biblical Spirituality is a call back to simplicity.

Back to discipleship.

Back to spiritual maturity.

Back to Christ-centered living.

Back to the reality that Jesus is not merely someone we talk about—He is someone who lives within the believer.
