Promise 66: 2 Timothy – 55

2 Timothy

In Paul’s second letter to his young protege Timothy, he seeks to encourage his young intern with a declaration of the imparted Spirit of God into our lives:

2 Tim. 1:7 God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

That word translated as “power” is the same word for the dynamos that power a hydroelectric plant. This is raw, explosive, intense power. That is what you have received from God. Power, love, and soundness of mind. The word “soundness” comes from a Greek word meaning to be “restored to one’s senses, the power to hold to one’s duty resolutely,” and the “strength to empower others with encouragement.” As believers, we are not weaklings. We are strong in Christ, strong in the gifts that God gives us freely every day upon waking!
