Do you know when change is at hand in your life? How do you respond to change? Do you allow yourself to be a victim? Or, do you take your authority and ride the chaos of change into the next assignment God has for you? The chapter begins with a summary of the generations of Jacob down to their entering into Egypt to escape the famine by coming under Joseph’s care. In time, Joseph died and all this generation. This is the principle of the old wineskin. Things change.

Have your dreams been abandoned? Do you feel all is lost? There is great hope and consolation for you in this account of the salvation of the young child Moses. Have you ever spent time on the backside of the desert? We usually don’t want to be there, but it is often necessary to prepare us for greater things even as Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness being prepared by God. Have you ever felt unqualified for the call of God on your life? God remonstrates with Moses and assures him that his assignment will be accompanied by signs, miracles, and wonders to accomplish the task. In chapter 9 of Exodus, the plagues continue to fall upon Egypt because of Pharaoh’s refusal to let the people go. Yet, the children of Israel are safe and unharmed in the land of Goshen. This shows us that God places a distinction between those who serve him and those who do not. The timings of God are different than the timings of man. All of the calendar events of worship are connected with the glory of God and His dealings with His people.
