DAILY INTERCESSOR’S UPDATE

Today’s assignment is Human interest. The Scriptures remind us of the call to lift up every person before the throne:

“I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

— 1 Timothy 2:1‑2

Our first prayer focus is for Maria Hernandez of Dallas, Texas.

The Dallas Morning News reported on October 22 that Maria, a single mother of three, lost her home in a sudden flash flood that swept through her neighborhood, leaving her family without shelter and with limited supplies.

Father, we ask that You provide a safe place for Maria and her children, that You surround them with caring neighbors and generous ministries, and that You meet every need for food, clothing, and stability.

In the name of Jesus we decree that a provision channel is opened for Maria’s family, that a roof is raised over their heads, and that divine favor follows them each day, restoring their peace and hope.

Our second prayer focus is for Pastor James Whitaker of Grace Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama.

The Birmingham Gazette, October 24, noted that Pastor Whitaker was unjustly accused of financial impropriety by a former congregant, leading to a hostile media campaign and a pending civil lawsuit that threatens the church’s reputation.

Lord, we pray that truth be revealed, that the accusations be dismissed, and that the hearts of those hearing the story be softened to see the integrity of Pastor Whitaker and his ministry.

In Jesus’ name we declare that falsehoods are shattered, that the lawsuit is resolved in favor of the church, and that God’s grace restores the congregation’s confidence and unity.

Our third prayer focus is for the Rivera family of Spokane, Washington.

The Seattle Times, October 23, covered the story of the Rivera family, whose teenage son, Luis, was seriously injured in a hit‑and‑run accident on Interstate 90, leaving the family facing mounting medical bills and emotional trauma.

Father, we ask for swift and complete healing for Luis, for wisdom for the medical team, and for the Rivera family to experience Your comforting presence through this trial.

By the authority of Christ we decree that Luis’s body is restored to full health, that the responsible driver is brought to justice, and that the Rivera family walks in peace and financial provision.

Our fourth prayer focus is for Dr. Aisha Patel, a pediatric oncologist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Inquirer, October 21, reported that Dr. Patel’s research team received a sudden funding cut from a state grant, jeopardizing a promising clinical trial for a new leukemia therapy for children.

Lord, we pray that new resources be released, that benefactors and donors hear the urgent need, and that the trial proceeds without delay to bring hope to sick children and their families.

In the name of Jesus we decree that a fresh stream of funding is opened, that the trial moves forward successfully, and that many lives are saved through this breakthrough.

Our fifth prayer focus is for the Martinez family of Tucson, Arizona.

Arizona Republic, October 20, highlighted that the Martinez family’s small family‑run grocery store was forced to close after a fire damaged the building, leaving them without income and the community without a beloved local market.

Father, we ask that You provide the Martinez family with the resources to rebuild, that the community rallies to support them, and that their store reopens stronger than before.

We declare in Jesus’ name that the Martinez store is rebuilt swiftly, that finances flow abundantly, and that the neighborhood experiences renewed fellowship and blessing through this restored gathering place.
