DAILY INTERCESSOR’S UPDATE
Today we turn our eyes outward, looking beyond our own borders to the nations around us. The Apostle Paul gives us a clear and timeless command in 1 Timothy 2:1–2, urging us to make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all men, and specifically for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. This is not a passive duty; it is an active spiritual posture. We are to stand in the gap for the leaders and peoples of the earth, trusting that God’s hand is upon the nations.
“Prayer is the breath of the soul, the rising of the heart, the longing of the man for God.”
— Augustine of Hippo
“The church is the body of Christ, and prayer is the circulation of the blood through that body.”
— Martin Luther
Our first prayer focus is for the displaced families in Idlib, Syria, as they navigate the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
According to reports from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the number of internally displaced persons in northern Syria has continued to rise due to regional instability and limited access to winter shelter. Many families are currently living in overcrowded tents or makeshift shelters with insufficient medical care and food supplies.
Father, we lift up the mothers, fathers, and children in Idlib who are facing the harsh realities of displacement. We ask You to provide for their physical needs, to grant them safety from further conflict, and to sustain their hope. We ask that You would open doors for credible humanitarian aid to reach them without political hindrance, and that You would strengthen the hands of those working on the ground to bring relief.
In the name of Jesus, we decree that no weapon formed against the physical well-being of these children shall prosper. We declare that Your provision is sufficient and that Your peace will guard their hearts, even in the midst of uncertainty. We command that the spirit of despair be replaced by the assurance of Your care.
Our second prayer focus is for the religious communities in Tehran, Iran, as they face increasing restrictions on worship.
Recent updates from international human rights observers indicate that security forces have intensified surveillance and detention of individuals associated with underground Christian gatherings in major cities, citing new regulatory frameworks. These actions have created a climate of fear among believers who seek to practice their faith quietly and lawfully.
Lord, we pray for the courage and protection of the believers in Tehran. We ask that You would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble. We ask that You would grant the authorities wisdom to respect the fundamental right of conscience and that You would preserve the unity and peace of the church there, regardless of external pressure.
In the name of Jesus, we declare that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. We decree that the fear of man shall be removed from the hearts of God’s people, and that Your spirit of power, love, and a sound mind shall be upon them, enabling them to stand firm in their testimony.
Our third prayer focus is for the agricultural workers in Punjab, India, as they deal with the impact of erratic monsoon seasons.
Reports from the Indian Meteorological Department and local agricultural boards note that delayed monsoon rains have affected the sowing of paddy crops in key districts, leading to concerns over food security and the livelihoods of millions of small-scale farmers. This weather pattern poses a significant challenge to the stability of the local economy and food supply chains.
Father, we bring the farmers and their families before You. We ask for Your provision and for wise stewardship of the resources they have. We pray for favorable weather patterns that will allow for a bountiful harvest and for economic stability in the region. We ask that You would guide the policymakers to implement measures that support the dignity and livelihood of those who work the land.
In the name of Jesus, we decree that the earth shall yield its increase. We command that scarcity and poverty be broken over this region, and that Your abundance shall flow into the hands of the laborers, securing their future and the well-being of their children.
Our fourth prayer focus is for the healthcare workers in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, as they address a recurring outbreak of disease.
Health ministry officials in the region have reported a resurgence of cases in several provinces, straining the capacity of local hospitals and clinics. The situation requires rapid response, international coordination, and sustained funding to prevent further spread and to ensure that vulnerable populations receive timely treatment.
Lord, we pray for the doctors, nurses, and community health workers in Kinshasa. We ask for their protection, their wisdom, and their physical strength as they serve on the front lines of this health crisis. We ask that You would provide the necessary resources, medical supplies, and funding to support their efforts. We pray for the sick and the grieving, asking for Your healing touch and Your comfort.
In the name of Jesus, we decree that sickness and disease have no place in our world. We command that health and wholeness be restored to the land, and that Your peace shall flow like a river through the hospitals and homes of Kinshasa.
Our fifth prayer focus is for the students and faculty in Cape Town, South Africa, as they navigate social tensions on campus.
News outlets report that recent protests at several universities have led to temporary closures and increased police presence, as students and staff debate issues of equity and institutional governance. The situation has created a divided campus environment, affecting the learning experience and the well-being of the academic community.
Father, we pray for the students and teachers in Cape Town. We ask for Your wisdom to guide the conversations and for Your peace to rule in their hearts. We ask that You would bridge the divides and foster a spirit of mutual respect and understanding. We pray for the leadership of these institutions, that they would navigate this time with integrity, fairness, and a commitment to the holistic development of every young person.
In the name of Jesus, we decree that division be turned into unity. We command that the spirit of anger and hostility be replaced by the fruit of the Spirit, and that peace shall reign in these educational institutions, allowing knowledge and character to flourish.
