The Harvest of Your Words: Speaking Faith from the Heart

The Harvest of Your Words: Speaking Faith from the Heart

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21 KJV)

This powerful verse from Proverbs speaks volumes about the authority we wield with our words. As Christians, we are called to understand the profound connection between our faith, our words, and the reality we create around us. Jesus Himself declared, “…as ye have believed, so be it done unto you.” (Matthew 8:13 KJV) This statement reveals a universal spiritual law: our beliefs, expressed through our words, shape our reality.

It’s not just about believing “right.” The law of sowing and reaping, as outlined in Galatians 6:7, states, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” This principle applies universally, whether we sow seeds of faith or doubt, love or fear. Every word we utter is a seed planted in the fertile ground of the spiritual realm, destined to produce a harvest in our lives.

Faith Speaks

True faith is not silent; it finds expression through our words. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” How do we give substance to our hopes and provide evidence for the unseen? We speak them into existence!

Think of the centurion in Matthew 8:5-13. He didn’t need to see Jesus physically come to his house; he understood the authority of Jesus’ word. He declared, “speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” His words demonstrated unwavering faith in Jesus’ power, and his servant was healed that very hour.

When faith speaks, it speaks the language of God’s promises, not the whispers of fear and doubt. It declares healing instead of sickness, abundance instead of lack, and victory instead of defeat.

Releasing Faith from the Heart

So how do we learn to release faith from our hearts through our words?

1. Renew Your Mind with the Word of God: Romans 12:2 instructs us to “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Immerse yourself in the Scriptures, meditating on God’s promises and allowing them to shape your thoughts and beliefs.

2. Guard Your Heart: Proverbs 4:23 warns us to “keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Be mindful of what you allow to influence your heart. Limit exposure to negativity and fear-mongering. Instead, surround yourself with positive influences that build your faith.

3. Speak God’s Word: Jesus, when tempted by Satan in the wilderness, countered every temptation with “It is written…” (Matthew 4:1-11). Use the Word of God as your sword against doubt and fear. Declare God’s promises over your situation.

4. Speak Life and Blessing: Choose to speak words that align with God’s will. Bless others, encourage those around you, and speak words of healing and restoration. As you sow seeds of life and blessing, you will reap a harvest of the same.

5. Practice Thanksgiving: Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to “in every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Thanksgiving shifts our focus from what’s lacking to the abundance of God’s blessings in our lives, strengthening our faith and empowering our words.

Overcoming Negative Confessions

We all have moments of weakness when fear and doubt creep into our hearts and spill out in our words. But the good news is that we serve a God of grace and forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 assures us that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

When you realize you’ve spoken words of fear or doubt, don’t dwell on them. Instead, immediately repent, ask God for forgiveness, and declare His truth over your situation. Replace the negative confession with a positive one based on God’s Word.

Remember, faith is a journey, not a destination. It’s a muscle that grows stronger with use. The more you practice speaking words of faith, the more your heart will be filled with faith, and the more you will see God’s power manifested in your life.

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” (Mark 11:23 KJV)

Start speaking faith today, and watch God move mountains in your life!
