The Gift God Gave You: Use It in the Battle

Stirring Up the Gift Within:

You have a calling from God on your life, every believer in Jesus does. You are important, you are part of God’s plan, and it is imperative to identify and activate the unique gifts that He has placed within you through His anointing, the Charismatic Gifts, Motivational Gifts, and your personality as He has formed and fashioned you to be. Each of us has been endowed with a special talent, ability, or spiritual capacity that is not merely for personal enjoyment but for the edification of others and the advancement of God’s kingdom. This is not the time to be idle or to hide what has been given to you. Instead, it is a call to action, to find your place in the spiritual battle and use the gifts you’ve been given for God’s glory.

2 Timothy 1:6 KJV: “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”

Timothy was a younger man, no doubt dealing with heavy responsibilities and prone to timidity and holding back. Paul’s admonition to him tells us to never let our God-given gifts lie dormant. The word “stir up” suggests a fire that needs to be fanned into flame. Just as Timothy was encouraged to activate his spiritual endowment, so too are we called to awaken our abilities for the purpose of ministry and service.

God’s Provision in a Time of Conflict

Just as David’s proficiency with a slingshot became a critical tool in a time of national crisis, our unique talents are meant to be utilized in the face of spiritual conflict. God does not provide us with these gifts without a purpose. He equips us for the specific challenges we will face. The season of war is not a time for hesitation or self-doubt; it is the appointed time to deploy the abilities and skills that the Lord has sovereignly bestowed upon you.

Ephesians 4:7 KJV: “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”

Every believer has received a measure of grace in the form of a spiritual gift. It is a divine provision intended for use in the body of Christ. The distribution of these gifts is purposeful, ensuring that the church is fully equipped to carry out its mission and confront the spiritual forces of darkness. You are important to the plan of God, and what you bring to the table will make the difference in people’s lives as you step out in faith and determination to walk out your calling and be obedient as much as lies in you to do so. God has entrusted you with a unique gift that someone else desperately needs. It is your responsibility to identify what you do well and use it to bless and serve others. The gifts are not for personal gain but are meant to be stewarded for the good of the community and the glory of God.

1 Peter 4:10 KJV: “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

You are a steward of your relationship with God, your understanding of God, and the giftings that He has made available in your life. We are to be faithful managers of the gifts we have been given. The command is to “minister the same one to another,” which means our gifts are meant to be shared and utilized in service to others. This act of ministry demonstrates our understanding that the gifts are not our own but are expressions of God’s grace working through us.

Reflection and Review

The call to stir up the gift of God within us is a vital part of our Christian walk, especially in a world that is spiritually hostile. God has equipped each of us with specific talents and abilities, not to be hidden, but to be actively used for the building of His kingdom. Your personal giftedness is a key component of God’s plan to reach others. Do not underestimate the power of what God has placed in your hands.
