“Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.” (Psalm 118:25, NKJV)
How can any believer truly doubt that God desires to prosper His people? To criticize the very idea of prosperity for believers is disingenuous and, more importantly, directly contrary to a clear biblical mandate God has for His people!
👑 God’s Plan: Life and Abundance
From the beginning, God’s heart for humanity has been one of blessing and overflow. The critics of prosperity often miss the consistent theme of divine increase throughout Scripture:
- Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This is a bedrock promise!
- 3 John 1:2 (NKJV): “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” This New Testament prayer reveals God’s holistic desire for our well-being—spiritual, physical, and financial!
- John 10:10 (NKJV): Jesus Himself declared, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Abundance is part of the New Covenant promise!
🙏 The Power of Covenant and Provision
God is a Provider. He is Jehovah-Jireh! The idea that we must live in perpetual lack or barely scraping by rejects the magnificence of our Heavenly Father’s glorious riches.
- Philippians 4:19 (NKJV): “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Notice—it’s not according to our lack, but to His riches!
- Psalm 35:27 (NKJV): “Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, ‘Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.'” God takes pleasure in your success!
- Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV): “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” He gives us the very ability to succeed financially!
🎁 The Law of Sowing and Reaping
The Bible is clear: our actions of faith, especially in giving, activate God’s reciprocal blessing. Those who refuse to believe in the principle of return are often the ones who are unwilling to give in faith.
- Luke 6:38 (NKJV): “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” This is an undeniable law of the Kingdom!
- 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV): “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” The purpose of provision is to abound in good works!
- Malachi 3:10 (NKJV): “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse… And test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” God challenges us to test His promise of overflow!
Don’t let a poverty mindset or theological confusion rob you of your inheritance! God is a generous Father, and He wants to bless you so that you can be a blessing to others. Stop being disingenuous about your own desires for blessing and align your faith with the clear, abundant promises of Scripture! The only thing holding back your provision is often a lack of faith in what God has plainly declared.
