Tell It To Jesus Alone
In the quiet corners of our hearts, amidst the clamor of daily life, resides a sanctuary known only to us and our Savior. It’s a place where burdens are laid down, tears are shed without shame, and whispers of doubt and fear find solace in the gentle embrace of divine love. This sacred space is where we “tell it to Jesus alone.”
The world offers a multitude of solutions for our troubles. Friends lend a listening ear, therapists provide tools and strategies, and self-help books line shelves with promises of inner peace. While these avenues can offer support and guidance, there’s a unique intimacy and power found in taking our concerns directly to Jesus.
Why Jesus? Because He understands. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that He was “tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”1 He knows the sting of betrayal, the weight of grief, the ache of loneliness.2 He felt the full spectrum of human emotion, and He carries the scars to prove it.3 When we come to Him with our brokenness, we are met not with judgment or condemnation, but with compassion and empathy.
Telling it to Jesus alone is an act of surrender. It’s acknowledging our limitations and recognizing His limitless power. It’s a confession that we can’t fix everything ourselves, that we need His strength to overcome, His wisdom to guide, His love to heal.
This intimate conversation with Jesus takes many forms. It might be a whispered prayer in the stillness of the morning, a tearful plea in the depths of despair, or a joyful outpouring of gratitude in moments of triumph. It could be a song of praise, a heartfelt journal entry, or a quiet meditation on His Word. The method is less important than the posture of our hearts – open, honest, and fully reliant on Him.
What do we tell Him? Everything. The big things that threaten to overwhelm us, the small anxieties that chip away at our peace, the secret fears that we hide from the world, the hopes and dreams that we dare not speak aloud. Nothing is too trivial, too messy, or too shameful for His ears. He invites us to come as we are, with all our imperfections and vulnerabilities.4
But telling it to Jesus is not merely a therapeutic exercise. It’s an act of faith that activates His power in our lives. When we lay our burdens at His feet, we are not simply venting or seeking sympathy. We are inviting Him to intervene, to work on our behalf, to bring beauty from ashes and hope from despair.
Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present5 your requests to God.6 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ7 Jesus.”8 This peace is not the absence of problems, but a deep-seated assurance that He is in control, that He hears our cries, and that He will work all things for our good.
Telling it to Jesus alone also fosters a deeper intimacy with Him. As we pour out our hearts, we become more attuned to His voice. We learn to recognize His whispers of comfort, guidance, and correction. We grow in our understanding of His character and His love for us. This intimacy transforms us from the inside out, shaping us into the image of Christ.
In a world that bombards us with noise and distractions, it’s easy to lose sight of the One who truly matters. But when we cultivate the habit of “telling it to Jesus alone,” we create a sacred space where we can connect with Him on a deeper level. We find solace in His presence, strength in His promises, and hope in His unfailing love.
So, the next time you’re faced with a challenge, a decision, or a burden that feels too heavy to bear, remember the power of those simple words: “Tell it to Jesus alone.” He’s waiting to hear from you, to offer His comfort, His guidance, and His peace that surpasses all understanding.
