Resting in the Finished Work: Our True Righteousness!

The Holy Spirit has an amazing job, and one part is to convict us of righteousness! But what exactly is this righteousness?

Theologically, it’s the ability to stand upright before God, eligible for His favor and blessing.

How do we get it? Not through our own actions or works. As Jesus said in John 16:10 (KJV): “Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more.”

This is the key! The Holy Spirit convinces us that we have God’s full favor and blessing only because Jesus ascended to the Father. His finished work on the cross and His ascension are the sole basis for our access to God.

This is profoundly liberating and leads to REST.

When you pray, your prayers are answered not because of who you are or what you have done, but because of who Jesus is and what He accomplished! God isn’t checking your spiritual depth or performance; He is looking at the finished work of the Cross.

Any other basis for approaching God is unproductive. Trying to earn leverage through works is a recipe for getting stuck.

A simple adjustment in faith: Shift your focus in prayer from yourself to Him, and watch what unfolds in your life!
