Promise 66: Philemon – 57

Philemon

The letter to Philemon was Paul’s effort to intercede for a runaway slave with his Christian master. In this letter, Paul reminds the offended former master of Philemon the slave that God’s grace and peace is a gift freely given:

Philemon 1:3 Grace to you and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The word “grace” translates theologically as “God’s empowering presence.” In the original language, the word “peace” is where the woman’s name “Irene” comes from. It means “unprecedented blessing, progress, and success.” That tells us that God’s grace not only upholds us when we suffer but also brings us out of suffering to unparalleled blessing and overcoming. I speak that over your life today!
