How to Get “Platformed” in Ministry – the Right Way

As a prophet, it’s my responsibility to speak ALL the truth, not just the sanitized version. Let’s talk about “platforming.” There is a term in leadership circles that every emerging minister needs to understand, yet few discuss openly. It is the “Church equivalent of the ‘smoke-filled back room’ where all the ‘deals’ are made to promote one’s ministry.  Platforming is when an established, well-known ministry “vouches” for a lesser-known one. In the world of Christian media and networks, it’s often pitched as a “launchpad.” I remember being invited by a major Christian TV program years ago. They told me plainly, “We’ll put you on the map… it will be a BEFORE and AFTER thing. You will be amazed.”

I politely declined. Why? Because if a man can “map” you, a man can erase you. If a network builds your foundation, that network owns your floor. What happened? FHM has, in 18 years, gone around the world and reached, as of 2025, over 14 million people with the Daily Word. Mentored over 10k people in our online courses. We’ve also counseled 100s over the phone, provided Bible-based dream interpretation on request, and sent out prophetic words. We’re here. We’ve thrived. We didn’t do it through those back-room tactics, however. It’s actually humorous to me when other ministries see us doing what we do at the level we do and can’t figure out what our “secret” is. So, more often than not, they conclude we are doing something wrong when, in fact, we simply did our best to “let go and let God…” And the only one who can take the credit is the Father!

The Dark Side of the “Open Door”

The pressure to be platformed creates a strange, sometimes dark hunger in people. I’ve seen the “mixed multitude” try to bypass the labor and go straight to the harvest.

  • I’ve had “prophets” lash out and pronounce curses because I wouldn’t hand over my subscriber list to them.

  • I’ve had dear friends—people I loved and trusted—see a personal tragedy, like the passing of my wife, not as a time to mourn, but as a “strategic opportunity” to seize the checkbook and take over the ministry.

They didn’t see it as theft; they convinced themselves it was “revelation.” They wanted the influence Father’s Heart Ministry (FHM) built, but they didn’t want to labor in the field to grow it.

Where is Your Foundation?

When FHM launched, God gave me a very specific instruction: Do not worry about the platforms. He told me FHM would not grow through the “Good-Old-Boy” networks or the chicanery of religious politics.

We didn’t launch in the safety of the established church; we launched in the marketplace. We followed the pattern of the 1950s healing revivals—when the church grew too restrictive and began quenching the Spirit, the revivalists moved into tents outside of town. They built where other men wouldn’t labor.

The Apostle Paul warned, “Woe be to me if I build on another man’s foundation.” (Romans 15:20).

The Cost of a “Holy Ghost Tank”

If you want something that the enemy cannot take away, you have to let God build it. FHM has been:

  • Pilloried and criticized.

  • Lied about and slandered.

  • Manipulated and blackballed.

But here is the secret: Those people didn’t build FHM, so those people cannot stop FHM. It is a Holy Ghost Tank.

A Word to the “Mixed Multitude”

To those who look at an established ministry and see only a shortcut for your own promotion—be careful. It has taken years of labor and thousands of dollars to create the avenues through which we send out the Daily Word. To come in and try to “poach” a subscription list or manipulate people away for your own fundraising isn’t “networking”—it’s spiritual identity theft.

There is a sobering phrase in the scriptures: “And the Lord heard it…” (Numbers 11:1).

The Point of Maturity

If you are a young minister grieving because you don’t have access to a “big pulpit,” hear me: Stop looking for a platform and start looking for a plow. If you build in the secret place, if you labor where others refuse to go, God will provide a reach that no man-made network can ever claim credit for.

What has God called you to build from the ground up? Let’s stay focused on the Mandate, not the Map.
