Establishing Your Prayer Perimeter:
In our walk with God, we are called to be vigilant and proactive in our spiritual lives. Just as a physical perimeter protects a space, a prayer perimeter safeguards our hearts, minds, and destinies. It’s a deliberate act of engaging with God through prayer, establishing boundaries against the enemy’s advances, and inviting God’s manifest presence into our lives.
The Power of Revelation and Knowledge
“Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out its seven pillars.” – Proverbs 9:1
Our journey with God involves both knowledge and revelation. Knowledge of God, gained through studying His word, is essential. However, subjective revelation from God, received through the Holy Spirit, brings that knowledge to life in our hearts. When these two intersect, we become manifestly the temple of God.
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” – 1 Corinthians 1:30
Notice what this verse says about the Savior. Jesus IN HIS PERSON is our wisdom, and as we allow Him to build His seven pillars within us, corresponding to the seven spirits of God (Isaiah 11:2), we become a dwelling place for His manifest presence. This is not merely a positional truth but a dynamic reality that influences our prayer life and our interaction with God.
The Significance of the Prayer Perimeter
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual2 hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6:12
First and foremost, God’s manifest wisdom is activated and deployed in our lives through prayer. Prayer is a powerful weapon in spiritual warfare. It’s not just a passive activity but an active engagement against the enemy. We are called to establish a prayer perimeter around our lives, a spiritual boundary that protects us from the enemy’s attacks.
“The Lord God is a man of war; the Lord is His name.” – Exodus 15:3
God is a warrior, and we are called to be warriors in prayer. This involves a shift from weak, anemic prayers to bold, zealous cries to God.
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.” – Isaiah 54:17
When the enemy comes against us, whether through people’s words or circumstances, we have the authority to declare those things wrong and to disturb the enemy’s agenda.
God’s Pattern of Warfare
God has a pattern for dealing with His enemies, and it serves as an example for us in our prayer life:
(Caveat: These strategies are spiritual and not physical or natural. We don’t wrestle against flesh and blood!)
- Blinding the enemy (Hamon): God can confuse and disorient our adversaries.
- Drowning the enemy (Pharoah): God can completely remove the threat of our enemies.
- Swallowing the enemy: God can deal decisively with those who oppose His will.
- Using the enemy’s weapons against them: God can turn the very tools of the enemy against them.
- Sending fire: God answers by fire and can consume our adversaries.
- Driving the enemy mad: God can bring confusion and instability to our enemies.
- Hanging the enemy: God can expose and defeat those who plot against us.
A Call to Action: Establishing Your Prayer Perimeter
- Pray Personally: Develop a consistent and dedicated prayer life. Whether it’s two minutes or two hours, make prayer a priority each day.
- Pray Verbally: Engage in spoken prayer. Let your mouth pray, expressing your needs, desires, and warfare against the enemy.
- Pray Sacrificially: Be willing to sacrifice time, comfort, and personal desires to prioritize prayer.
- Seek Revelation: Pursue a deeper understanding of God’s Word and seek revelation from the Holy Spirit. Connect with those who walk in revelatory understanding.
- Pray with Zeal: Pray with passion, boldness, and a warrior’s spirit. Let your prayers be filled with faith and confidence in God’s power.
Reflection and Review:
Establishing a prayer perimeter is not a one-time event but a continuous process. It’s about cultivating a lifestyle of prayer, seeking God’s wisdom and revelation, and engaging in spiritual warfare. It’s a commitment to staying flexible, holding everything loosely, and listening intently to what the Lord is saying. As we do this, we will experience God’s manifest presence in our lives, and He will hear and answer our prayers in powerful ways.
