Deuteronomy Chapter Thirty-Two: The Eagle Stirs Up the Nest. In this chapter we see the song of Moses. This poem of Moses gives a panoramic view of human history from Adam to mount Sinai in the metaphor of God as an eagle stirring up the nest provoking her young to flight. God takes no pleasure in punishing man or in human suffering. His highest value was not placed on the law as an end in itself but as the means to bringing us to the end of ourselves that we might become that creature of flight – that spiritual being for which Christ died.
