Morning Light – April 8th, 2016: How Should Job Respond to His Friends?

Morning Light – April 8th, 2016 Job Chapter Twenty-Seven: How Should Job Respond to His Friends? In this chapter Job continues his last and final monologue. He describes his idea of divine retribution. He accuses his friends of being among the hypocrites and declares that hypocrites will suffer the direst fate at the hand of God. In truth Job is merely lobbing back at his friends the accusations that they have leveled at him – rather than showing mercy as ultimately God requires of him. Today: [Job Twenty-Seven] [Job 27:1-23 KJV] 1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, 2 [As] God liveth, [who] hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, [who] hath vexed my soul; 3 All the while my breath [is] in … (click link or title to continue)

Morning Light – April 7th, 2016 Today: [Job Twenty-Six] Job Describes God. In this chapter Job begins his longest monologue in the book of Job. He draws on very negative adjectives to describe God. [how] savest thou the arm [that hath] no strength? 3 How hast thou counselled [him that hath] no wisdom? and [how] hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is? 4 … (click link or title to continue)

Morning Light – April 6th, 2016: Are You a Worm?

Morning Light – April 6th, 2016 Today: [Job Twenty-Five] Are You a Worm? In this chapter we hear the last time from Job’s comforters. Bildad speaks up and declares to Job that (in his view) no one and nothing in creation can be made pure. He even goes so far as to suggest that even God cannot justify man for any reason. He maintains his assertion that Job suffers at the hand of God because he is sinful. Job likewise agrees that it is in fact (in his view) God tormenting him but it is in spite of what a good person he is. [Job 25:1-6 KJV] 1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, 2 Dominion and fear [are] with him, he maketh peace … (click link or title to continue)
