Morning Light – July 20th, 2016: Does God’s Anger Smoke Against Us?

Morning Light – July 20th, 2016 Today: [Psalm 74] Does God’s Anger Smoke Against Us? In this chapter Asaph speaks prophetically of a time when Jerusalem is burned by fire and the temple is totally destroyed. His language suggests that he thinks that God has allowed this to happen. He goes on to cry out for God’s mercy for the people. He mentions several times that he intends to put God in remembrance of His promise to His people. Is it disrespectful to “remind God”? In this psalm we learn how to pray when all hope is gone and the hand of God is seemingly delayed to act in our behalf. Morning Light – July 19th, 2016: Abandoning Corrupt Worship

Morning Light – July 19th, 2016 Today: [Psalm 73] Abandoning Corrupt Worship. In this chapter we find a man named Asaph as the author and not king David. Asaph was a worship leader from David’s time spanning into Solomon’s reign itself. In this psalm Asaph grieves over the corruption of the pure and simple worship of God. He observes the end of those who have strayed in their persons yet claim to be representatives of God’s presence in worship. He concludes that outside of God’s presence in his own life he would likewise go astray. [Psa 73:1-28 KJV] 1 [[A Psalm of Asaph.]] Truly God [is] good to Israel, [even] to … (click link or title to continue)

Morning Light – July 18th, 2016: The Death Bed Prayer of David

Morning Light – July 18th, 2016 Today: [Psalm 72] The Death Bed Prayer of David. David’s death bed prayer is not about himself. He does not pray for courage to endure the end of his life. He does not pray that he will see the Lord afterward. It seems that all of those issues are settled for David. Instead he prays for his successor, for the line of kings that comes after him and for the fate of the nation that he has led for 40 years. In this pray we see how we also should pray for our leaders and for our nations. [Psa 72:1-20 KJV] 1 [[[A Psalm] for Solomon.]] Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s … (click link or title to continue)
